Privacy Policy

We take your privacy seriously. Here's exactly how we handle your data.

📅 Last updated: March 2025

1. Introduction

Welcome to SnapSolve ("we", "our", "us"). SnapSolve is an AI-powered homework help application designed for students in Kindergarten to Class 12 in India. We are committed to protecting the personal information of our users, including minors.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using SnapSolve, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you sign in with Google, we collect:

  • Your name and email address (from your Google account)
  • Your Google profile picture
  • A unique user identifier

2.2 Child / Student Profile Information

Parents or guardians create profiles for their children. This includes:

  • Child's first name
  • Class/Grade (e.g., Class 9)
  • Age
  • Gender (optional)

We do not collect the child's email address, phone number, or any other identifying information.

2.3 Homework Content

When you submit a homework question, we process:

  • Text questions you type or speak
  • Photos of homework (uploaded or captured in-app)
  • Voice transcripts from voice input

2.4 Usage Data

We automatically collect limited usage data including app version, device type (not device ID), and crash logs to improve app stability.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide the service: Process homework questions and generate AI-powered explanations
  • To personalise answers: Use the child's grade and age to tailor the complexity of explanations
  • To store your history: Save past homework sessions locally on your device
  • To manage subscriptions: Process payments via Razorpay for premium plans
  • To improve the app: Analyse anonymised usage patterns to enhance features
  • To communicate with you: Send important service updates (no marketing without consent)

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in these limited cases:

4.1 Google Gemini AI

Homework questions (text and images) are sent to Google's Gemini API to generate answers. Google processes this data per their Privacy Policy. We do not send personally identifiable information (names, email) to Gemini — only the homework content.

4.2 Firebase (Google)

We use Firebase Authentication (sign-in), Firestore (cloud data sync), and Firebase Storage (image upload). All Firebase services are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

4.3 Razorpay

Payment processing is handled by Razorpay. We do not store card or payment details. Razorpay's Privacy Policy applies to payment transactions.

4.4 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our legal rights.

5. Children's Privacy

SnapSolve is designed for students aged 11 and above. We require parental/guardian consent for students under 13. By creating a child profile, the parent or guardian consents to the collection of the child's profile data as described in this policy.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us immediately at privacy@snapsolve.app.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in two places:

  • On your device: Homework session history is stored locally using encrypted Room database. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to sync.
  • Firebase servers: Kid profiles and account data are stored on Google's Firebase infrastructure (data centres in the US/Europe/Asia) with industry-standard encryption.

We use HTTPS for all data in transit. Firebase enforces Firestore security rules that ensure each user can only access their own data.

7. Data Retention

  • Homework sessions are kept locally on your device (last 20 sessions per child)
  • Account and profile data is retained while your account is active
  • Uploaded homework images are stored in Firebase Storage and can be deleted on request
  • You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app settings

8. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Correction: Update or correct inaccurate data
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format
  • Objection: Object to certain types of processing

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@snapsolve.app. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Cookies and Tracking

The SnapSolve Android app does not use cookies. Our website (snapsolve.app) uses only essential cookies required for functionality. We do not use advertising tracking cookies.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by sending a notification in the app or by email. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.

Continued use of SnapSolve after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
